Mother’s Day is vital for local restaurants

Mother’s day is about spending time with our moms and showing them how much they are loved and appreciated. Fortunately for local restaurants, many people will spend some of that time together going out for a nice meal.

“Most people think that Valentine’s Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants, but in a lot of locations, it’s typically Mother’s Day. They’re kind of almost 1-A and 1-B. But Mother’s Day is more impactful for our business here. Everybody loves their mom. They want to treat them to a nice meal. We open at 11 a.m., and we’ll be lined up out the door as soon as we open.”

Pasquales has served Italian cuisine in Beckley for over 55 years. Owner Greg Lacek says the impact of Mother’s Day on local restaurants is phenomenal, and handling one of the biggest days of the year takes careful planning and coordination.

“Preparation and communication are keys in this business, period, but you have to make sure you have adequate staff and adequate product. It’s also very good for the food vendors. I mean, they provide everything for all the local restaurants, so they’re also impacted by that as well.”

Going out to a local restaurant is just one way to spend quality time this Mother’s Day. However you celebrate, it’s always nice to show the moms in your life that they are appreciated.

“We have a warm, inviting atmosphere, and we try to do everything we can to make the experience a little bit extra because everybody loves their mom, and none of us would be where we are without them… I do want to say happy Mother’s Day to my mom and my wife, Tiffany.”
