More nice days on the way

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It was another great day around the region; in fact, the weather is about as nice as we can expect this time of year. Highs today once again wound up in the mid-to-upper 60s, with some locations getting just above the 70-degree mark. While there were a few widely scattered clouds, sunshine once again was the other main feature of the weather. Similar to last night, the dry air, light wind, and longer nights equal lows in the mid-to-upper 30s. So once again, the jacket will come in handy if you’re headed out to any outdoor plans tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow will be a carbon copy of today. Highs and sky conditions feature more of the same; plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures.
In fact, this is what we’ll see throughout the extended forecast through most of the eastern third of the nation. The only exception will be right along the coast as a strong low-pressure system develops and moves northeastward.
The impacts from this low will be wave action and possible beach erosion due to some big waves that will be kicked up by the storm. The National Hurricane Center is even keeping an eye on the storm to see if it can acquire tropical characteristics. They’re predicting that the system has a 40% chance to develop into something tropical. The water over the Gulf Stream is warm enough to support a tropical system, but questions remain concerning the ability for the storm to get organized before it moves over colder waters.
Even if it doesn’t become tropical, it will still cause the issues along the coast mentioned earlier.
Beyond the extended forecast, some rain might pop up on days eight and nine; at least that’s what the American GFS model is predicting. The European indicates that there will be showers as well, but the chances are smaller. Either way, that’s the next time we’ll have any chance for rain at all. At the end of the forecast, a front will stall to our north, and that could be the trigger for some showers.
