Monroe County Schools to host various summer programs starting June 23

Monroe County, WV (WOAY) – Monroe County Schools aim to ensure students stay educated and on track to advance in their educational careers with summer programs starting on June 23 and running through July 25 from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Programs are available for students entering kindergarten through 12th grade and include:

  • Pre K and Kindergarten program: Focuses on early literacy, math, enrichment through play, and hands-on activities. 
  • Elementary and Middle School Program: For 1st to 8th grade students to work on reading/language arts, math, and enrichment. Offered through Monroe County Schools Monday through Friday, 8:00 a m to 3:00 pm.
  • Middle School Credit Recovery: Focuses on 8th-grade students who need a passing grade in a core subject. Hosted at James Monroe High School using an online program.
  • High School Credit Recovery: Open to 9th to 12th grade students who need to earn core subject class credits. Offered through Monroe County Schools Monday through Friday, 8:00 a m to 3:00 pm.

High School Credit Recovery students must attend the full five-week program, with a maximum of three absences, and complete the online program to earn credits.

Monroe County Schools will provide daily bus transportation, breakfast, and lunch for students.

Programs are available to all students with no income requirements.
