Monroe County, WV (WOAY) The Monroe County FFA Stockman’s team is celebrating a strong finish at a major regional competition.
Students competed this weekend at the Block and Bridle event hosted by Virginia Tech, placing in the top third of a highly competitive field.
The rigorous contest tested students in animal evaluation, retail meats identification, meats evaluation, feed ID and usage, hay evaluation, data interpretation, equipment identification, and keep-and-cull classes.
Over 400 participants and 90 teams from Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina took part, making it one of the largest livestock competitions in the region, featuring beef, swine, sheep, and goat divisions.
Team members include Megan Richardson, Mackenzie Richardson, Rylee Hubbard, Sarah Arthur, Lydia Sauselein, and Maija Kubes.
