WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Our winter storm is still on track to produce light to moderate snowfall accumulations with disruptive impacts for the Tuesday AM Commute.
Snow started falling across southern West Virginia earlier this afternoon, but luckily sticking was minimal due to the warm ground and temperatures above freezing. However, with some heavier bursts and temps falling below freezing, snow is starting to accumulate across the area.
Moderate to briefly heavy snow will continue through the overnight hours, putting down additional light accumulations across the area. Significant accumulations are expected above 3,000 feet into the higher elevations northeast of Oak Hill.
With accumulations and temperatures falling well below freezing Tuesday morning, roads will be treacherous for the morning commute. Wind chills will be in the single digits during that time as well.
A large portion of schools in our area are delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather. Follow WOAY and tune in for the latest!
