Beckley, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Miners were able to only score one run Wednesday against Champion City, but sometimes, one run is enough.
It was enough for the Miners in the second of their three-game series with the Kings, with Austin Norman delivering the only RBI to score Eddy Gonzalez.
The hosts had a chance to add to that lead throughout the night, but would leave 11 runners on base. Champion City would strand five runners.
Michael Syrett was the winning pitcher for the Miners, with seven strikeouts in six innings. The Miners and Kings finish their three-game series Thursday, before Tim Epling’s team heads on the road for three games at Chillicothe.
