Milder Days Continue; Wetter Weekend Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Another mild day is in store for the region as temperatures rise into the upper 50s this afternoon despite mostly cloudy skies. It will be another uneventful day, but a low-pressure system passing through the Great lakes tonight may bring us some light rainfall overnight into early Wednesday morning. Totals will linger between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, all of which will be beneficial for the region. These showers will be isolated, so some areas may miss out completely. Don’t be surprised if your car is wet when you wake up tomorrow.

After the overnight showers dissipate early in the morning, Wednesday and Thursday will both be drier days. Skies will clear up Wednesday afternoon, leaving the region with partly cloudy skies through the rest of the day. Thursday will bring some more cloud cover into the equation, but will be dry with sunshine peeking through the clouds. Temperatures will remain on the milder side as well, making for a nicer couple of days before more active weather pops in on Friday. A low-pressure system will move through the eastern states on Friday, bringing widespread rain and a few isolated thunderstorms with it. Rain will fall throughout the day and won’t stop much as we go into the weekend.

The second of two low-pressure systems will move through the region on Saturday, bringing more widespread showers and a possibility for a few isolated storms. The rain will start to dissipate a bit in the evening and overnight hours. However, with a cold front passing through at the end of the day, we could see a few lingering showers switch to snow on Sunday morning before everything is set and done. Accumulation will be little to none as of now, and the remaining precipitation will clear up Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will drop back to more seasonable values as we enter the new week.
