Mild Today; Rainy and Snowy Tomorrow

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures start in the lower to mid-20s, but will quickly rise through the morning. The afternoon will consist of sunshine and temperatures hitting 50 degrees in some spots, making for the best day of the week. It will be a perfect day to get any outdoor chores or activities in before we get much colder and wetter over the next few days. A bundle of showers starts developing overnight, but temperatures stay above-freezing. Minimal disruptions are expected Wednesday morning, but the story will be different by Thursday morning. Meteorologist Christian Boteler dives into the full forecast:

Tomorrow morning starts with a mix of rain and snow, switching to all rain for the afternoon. Then, temperatures will drop below freezing, bringing back snowy conditions for the overnight hours into Thursday morning. Snow showers in the region will drop between 1 and 3 inches across our western counties, while less will fall in the Greenbrier Valley and more will fall in the high northern mountains. This snowfall and the freezing temperatures in the morning will cause disruptions for Thursday morning’s commute. With roads covered and snow and ice, expect school and road delays. A few counties may close schools as well, especially those prone to higher snow amounts. The period between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning will be our most active, but it won’t be the end of the snowfall.

The snow will slowly die down Thursday, leaving Friday mostly dry. There is a chance for a rogue shower or two, but most of the region will remain unaffected until Saturday. More scattered snow showers will spread across the region, lasting through Sunday morning once again. More accumulation is possible, though it will likely be less than Wednesday and Thursday’s storm across most of the region. After these showers leave Sunday afternoon, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is positioned to stay dry as of now. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
