Midweek Gusts, Elevated Fire Risk, Then Rain

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today’s sunshine will give way to a few clouds tonight then a sunny and windy Wednesday.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill’s latest forecast:

WIND/FIRE RISK: Low relative humidity and peak gusts between 2-5 p.m. Wednesday of 40-50 mph will increase the brush fire risk and knock down a few small limbs. Expect a few hundred power outages across our 9-county region, but nothing that meets the magnitude of the mid-January high wind event we experienced.

RAIN: Rain returns after 4 p.m. Friday and ends Saturday morning. Rain amounts of 0.25-0.50″will help alleviate the recent dryness in the Greenbrier Valley.

NEXT WEEK: We are back to very warm temperatures, breezy to windy conditions, an elevated fire risk followed by rain late Tuesday.
