Princeton, WV (WOAY) A Mercer County woman is facing child abuse charges in Princeton.
According to a magistrate court filing, on July 19 around 6:30 p.m., authorities noticed a large group of people near a condemned residence in Princeton.
The structure was officially condemned due to serious health and safety issues.
Officers discovered drug paraphernalia, including needles and aluminum foil coated in burnt drug residue around the building and inside a small shed on the property.
Police also discovered a minor on the property, who was smoking a vape and suspected to be impaired.
The minor told authorities that her mother, identified as Kayla Barton, knew she was on the property.
The juvenile was on the condemned property the previous night around 9:00 pm and was released to adult supervision.
Barton was arrested and charged with child abuse creating risk of injury or death.
She was transported to Southern Regional Jail on a $3,000 cash bail.
