Mercer County to restart recycling after two month halt

The Mercer County Commission recently decided to restart the county’s recycling program.

While the program was shut down, citizens have had to either send their recyclables to landfills or keep a hold of them.

County Commissioner Greg Puckett says because cases are slowing down and the state is reopening, the county feels like now is the right time to restart the program.

“A lot of people have been recycling. They’ve been storing this stuff up and they wanna get this out of their house too. So we want to be responsive to them but we also want to make sure that we are doing that in a healthy way and we don’t want to jump the gun into anything,” Puckett said.

Recycling is available now at the county landfill, and mobile recycling will begin in June.
