Mercer County Schools downgraded to “Code Yellow”

PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – After being upgraded to a “Code Orange,” on August 21, Mercer County schools has been downgraded back to “Code Yellow.”

Green and yellow codes allow for in-person classes as planned, which is currently where Mercer County sits. It’s hoping to stay in that range in order to hold in-person classes once school begins on September 8th.

“‘Code Yellow’ means that our elementary students will go to school five days a week with a shortened schedule,” said Data and Information Specialist Amy Harrison. “The middle and high school students will be on our ‘Plan B’ schedule, which is 50% of the students every other day if we’re on ‘Code Yellow.'”

The final day of determining how Mercer County Schools will proceed in the 2020-2021 school year is Saturday, September 6th.
