Princeton, WV (WOAY) – A Mercer County man is going to prison after failing to complete the drug court program.
According to Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran, on Wednesday May 28, 2025, 35-year-old Allen Cecil, Jr. of Bramwell, WV was sentenced to 7 to 11 years in prison after failing to complete the Mercer County Drug Court program.
A Mercer County Grand Jury indicted Cecil in October 2021 and then entered a guilty plea to Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Driving on Revoked License for DUI-3rd Offense, and Attempt to Commit a Felony in October 2021.
Cecil was discharged from the program and had his sentence reimposed, but after completing the GOALS program, he was permitted back into Drug Court.
However, Cecil was again recently discharged from Drug Court a second time for violations of the Drug Court rules.
Cochran said “our court system and the Drug Court program bent over backwards the last couple of years to help Mr. Cecil get his life back together but he continued to break the rules”.
“He left us with really no choice but to ask the Court to reimpose the original sentences.”
