Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – Lonnie Harrell Perkins, a 63 year old man from Mercer County, has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
The state police received a report from Google in February indicating that Perkins’s email account downloaded a roughly two-and-a-half-minute-long video portraying a minor girl engaging in a sexual act.
On the morning of June 24, a trooper visited Perkins’s residence to speak with him about the video. Perkins first stated that the account wasn’t his. When the trooper told him his Miranda rights, Perkins then confirmed the account was his, but had since been deactivated.
According to a criminal complaint, Perkins also stated that he was drunk and made a mistake; however, he also thought his email was private.
Perkins is being held on a $50,000 bond.
