BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – The Voice of Praise Worship Center is still planning on holding the third annual Mercer County Diaper Run on July 18.
The Cole Harley Davidson Dealership in Bluefield is partnering with the Worship Center to host one of the most popular events of the summer in Mercer. The Diaper Run supports the local Union Mission.
“The diapers collected will go to Bluefield Union Mission for distribution,” said Voice of Praise Worship Center Pastor N.R. Taylor. “We hope to collect about 10,000 diapers. Last year we had 65 motorcycles participate in the ride. The registration is one pack of baby diapers per rider, and that’s how we achieve our goal.”
The Diaper Run is an opportunity to help out families in the area. The Union Mission lists diapers as one of its greatest needs.
“Diapers, I didn’t realize, that they’re very expensive,” Taylor said. “From what I understand from the Bluefield Union Mission, it is one of the largest requested commodities that they distribute through their mission.”
Cole Harley Davidson is once again hosting the event, and will be the home base as the day progresses.
“We’re riding out of Cole Harley Davidson at 11:01, and we’re going to take a short ride up through the country,” Taylor said. “Maybe an hour to an hour and a half long. And then we’re going to come back and eat some good food. We’re going to have live music in the afternoon and give away a lot of tremendous prizes.”
Registration for the motorcycle ride is from 10-11 am on July 18, with no set limit on how many riders can participate
