Mercer County Commission seeks to limit fishing at Glenwood Park Lake

Mercer County, WV (WOAY)- One county commission is looking to limit fishing in a local lake.

The Mercer County Commission is looking to put a limit on the number of fish caught in a day at Glenwood Park Lake.

According to Joshua Parks, Assistant Superintendent of Glenwood Park, there is currently no limit on the number of fish one person can catch and keep.

This is because back in April, the county commission had planned to drain Glenwood Lake for maintenance.

With that, the commission put no limit on the fish caught because they wanted to lessen the number of fish being caught by draining the lake.

Now that it is not being drained, fishermen are still catching an unlimited number of fish.

The new limit hasn’t been set yet, but once it has, it will be up to the county commission to implement the ordinance.

Parks also told us there will still be no fee to fish at the park.

We talked with one fisherman who thinks limits are a good idea if the lake isn’t drained.
