Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – One Southern West Virginia circuit court judge is hanging up his robe.
On Monday, Governor Jim Justice’s office officially announced that Derek C. Swope is retiring from the 9th Judicial Circuit court serving Mercer County.
Swope is one of three circuit court judges in Mercer County.
The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is currently taking applications to fill the position.
Candidate applications and letters of recommendation are due by 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 21.
Interviews will be held on January 5.
