Mercer County, WV (WOAY) Community leaders across Mercer County are thanking u.S. Senators Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito for supporting several major southern West Virginia projects through the federal appropriations process.
Among the projects advancing through the first round of requests are funding for a runway extension at Mercer County Airport, a new emergency services campus in Bluefield, affordable housing initiatives, healthcare campus redevelopment, communications upgrades, and improvements at Glenwood Park.
Additional funding requests also include support for workforce-focused education expansion through the Bluefield State Applied Research Foundation.
Local officials say the projects represent major investments in public safety, economic growth, workforce development, healthcare, and quality-of-life improvements throughout the region.
