Mercer County, WV (WOAY)—On Monday night, the Mercer County Commission met in special session to address the community’s animal control issues, including consistently overextending the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
One of the major points brought up by the community was access and control. There is currently no spay and neuter ordinance in Mercer County, nor is there a leash law.
To address this lack, a K9 control ordinance and a leash law are in development. Another focus will be to make sure Fur-ever Fixed, the spay and neuter clinic in Mercer County is truly low cost and doesn’t burden pet owners with high fees.
