Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) A Meadow Bridge man has been sentenced in Fayette County in connection with incest and third-degree sexual assault crimes.
According to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, 64-year-old Gary W. McKnight of Meadow Bridge has been sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison on incest charges.
McKnight has also been sentenced to 1 to 5 years for third sexual assault charges.
Sentences will be served consecutively, and McKnight must serve six years before being eligible for parole.
He is also subject to pay a $5,000 fine for each offense and up to twenty-five years of extended supervised release once he completes parole or discharges his sentence.
In August 2024, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Department member received a complaint reporting McKnight was sexually abusing a mentally disabled adult.
The victim provided a statement to law enforcement advising that on three separate occasions, McKnight had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim.
The investigation further confirmed that the adult victim suffered from a significant intellectual disability and functioned at the intellectual level of an eight-year-old child.
Authorities received reports indicating McKnight had used condoms during the alleged crimes and disposed of them in a bathroom trashcan.
Two used condoms were recovered from a bathroom trashcan during a search of McKnight’s residence, and D.N.A. testing determined that both McKnight’s and the victim’s DNA were present.
