Welch, WV (WOAY) – McDowell County Schools return to regular school day schedule.
The schedule change was made due to winter flooding that occurred in February causing damage to roads along bus routes.
According to a post on the McDowell County Schools Facebook page, since gaining additional sunlight and drivers becoming familiar with road conditions for bus routes, school days will resume a regular schedule on Monday March 31, 2025.
Drivers are working with the McDowell County Schools Transportation Department to add back stops in areas where road conditions have improved. Bus drivers will reach out to families with children on those areas when the routes are approved by the McDowell County Schools Transportation Department individually.
