McDowell County, WV (WOAY)- Over the past few years, school supplies for students have been generously covered by COVID-19 stimulus funding in some counties.
But those funds have now expired, and that means some changes are ahead.
In McDowell County, schools do not issue formal supply lists, as mandated by West Virginia state code.
Instead, during Open House events, teachers will share suggested items that families may choose to purchase if they’re able.
These suggestions are not mandatory.
Some schools still have a surplus of supplies from last year.
Communities In Schools (CIS) facilitators are always available to help.
If your child needs supplies or anything else to support their success, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
