Welch, WV (WOAY) – McDowell County Schools announces schedule change for March 11, 2025.
According to a Facebook post, McDowell County schools will shift forward by one hour on Tuesday March 11, 2025. This means the school day will start one hour later than normal and end one hour later than normal.
Students in McDowell County returned to the classroom today March 10, 2025, for the first time since flooding in early February.
Shifting the school schedule by one hour will add an additional hour of daylight for drivers since the start of daylight savings time. The schedule change will also provide enhanced visibility for drivers, improve safety for students at bus stops and provide a positive impact on mental health.
