McDowell County reports all residents who tested positive from COVID-19 have recovered

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – The McDowell County Health Department is reporting that the sixth resident who previously tested positive for COVID-19 has now recovered and is out of quarantine. All six cases are now recovered.

The Health Department is pleased to report that as of the issue of this press release, there are now no active cases of COVID-19 in McDowell County.

All residents and staff of both local nursing and rehabilitation facilities have been tested. The results are pending.

Although this is excellent news, the Health Department wants to remind the public to remain vigilant and continue to heed the CDC guidelines for social distancing:

• Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other
people.
• Do not gather in groups.
• Stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings.
• Limit contact with other individuals outside of your
household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Also please remember to practice proper hand-washing at all times.
