McDowell County Board of Education plans to move to new location

WELCH, WV (WOAY) -The McDowell County Board of Education is planning to move soon.

They say the current building they are in is in need of renovations and is also on a gated street that makes it difficult for families to access.

According to the McDowell County Superintendent of Schools Carolyn Falin, the new office is planned to be on the second floor of a new field house being built near the Mount View High School football field.

“We need a new central office, the building we’re in is quite old, and it needs a lot of renovations and it’s quite expensive to upkeep. So we have decided to add a second floor to that field house for our central office if everything goes to plan,” Falin said.

The project is still in the planning stages, but once it gets going it will take roughly nine months to one year to complete.

After moving, the board will still be headquartered in Welch.
