WOAY – One day after announcing Marshall would host Appalachian State in mid-September, athletic director Mike Hamrick confirmed Tuesday that the Thundering Herd will open the 2020 football season against Eastern Kentucky September 5 in Huntington.
The Herd lead the all-time series with the Colonels 11-8-1, winning the most recent meeting in 2018. This game comes a week before Eastern Kentucky is scheduled to visit West Virginia in the Mountaineers’ season opener.
Marshall currently has 10 games scheduled, six of them at Edwards Stadium in Huntington. In addition to the two home matchups, they also have a non-conference game at East Carolina September 12; that game was originally set for late August.
