HUNTINGTON, WV (WOAY) – WOAY Sports confirmed Wednesday that Marshall quarterback Isaiah Green has entered the transfer portal.
Green, who would’ve been a redshirt junior in 2020, was the Herd’s starting quarterback in 2018 & 2019, though he did miss several games in 2018 due to injury. He was named to Conference USA’s All-Freshman Team in 2018 after throwing for 2,238 yards and 15 touchdowns; he led Marshall to a Gasparilla Bowl win over South Florida.
The Fairburn, Georgia native then started all 13 games at quarterback in 2019, recording 2,438 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Green also ran for 300 yards and five touchdowns.
Green’s departure means there are currently four quarterbacks on Marshall’s roster, none of whom played a collegiate snap under center in 2019: Joel Lambiotte, Eli Sammons, Grant Wells, and Luke Zban. Wells did play in one game last year on special teams.
Marshall is scheduled to open the 2020 season at East Carolina on August 29.
