WOAY – Marshall men’s basketball released its 2020-21 schedule Tuesday, which begins November 10 when the Thundering Herd travels to Eastern Kentucky.
Dan D’Antoni’s team will have 16 home games next season, starting November 16 against Coppin State; William & Mary visits Huntington two nights later.
The Herd’s marquee non-conference games will all be on the road; they visit Xavier November 21, before traveling to Virginia Tech on November 27 (Black Friday), and then a visit to Kentucky on December 29. It will be the 13th all-time meeting between Marshall and the Wildcats.
Conference USA will no longer use the “Bonus Play” method that was featured the last two seasons, but Marshall will play all 13 conference opponents – two games against the five schools closest to Huntington (Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, UAB, Western Kentucky) and one against the remaining teams. Conference play begins December 31 at Charlotte.
Marshall finished the 2019-20 men’s basketball season 17-15, 10-8 in conference play. They’d reached the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals before the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
