Many counties still in need of volunteers during second week of pandemic

WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – Many counties in the state still need volunteers during the pandemic.

Greenbrier County currently needs healthy volunteers to help deliver meals to kids while they are still out of school.

Stephen Baldwin, a Senator from Greenbrier County, said many of the current volunteers are members of vulnerable populations, and more young people are needed to volunteer instead.

“A lot of the folks who were out over the past week, they’re in the vulnerable population. We wanted to get a batch of healthy volunteers who would be able to go out safely, practice social distancing, prepare meals safely and get them out to kids in need.”

Individuals in Greenbrier County can contact the Greater Greenbrier Long-Term Recovery Committee for more information on volunteering.
