WEST VIRGINIA (WOAY) – Newswatch is still tracking President Biden’s decision to not seek re-election as it causes major shake-ups in West Virginia politics.
Senator Joe Manchin was initially one of the candidates floated to become the party’s nomination for President. Initial reporting indicated that he was interested in the job. Now, he has backed off, but he hasn’t endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, Senator Shelley Moore Capito has called on the president to resign from office. Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial nominee Patrick Morrisey is asking Vice President Harris to exercise the 25th Amendment.
Representative Carol Miller told us that President Biden’s decision came at the right time.
