Cabell County, WV (WOAY) – 58-year-old Maurice Kelly Johnson, ‘Reese’ of Huntington, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court records confirm that on May 22, 2025, Johnson provided a pistol that was sold to a confidential informant. In his plea, he admitted to having the firearm and providing it to co-defendant Earl Michael Myers, who conducted the transaction.
Johnson became a felon for distributing cocaine in November 1999 and September 1992.
Johnson and Myers are a part of a larger group indicted by a federal grand jury on charges alleging they planned to distribute fentanyl, crack, and meth from around March 2025 to August 2025.
Myers, ‘Mike’, a 45-year-old Huntington man, pleaded guilty on January 6 to distributing crack and having a firearm in a drug trafficking crime.
He and Johnson are scheduled to be sentenced on May 4, 2026.
Johnson faces at most 15 years in prison, 3 years supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
