According to a criminal complaint, on July 6, a trooper conducting a road patrol noticed an individual on a black motorcycle turning from Main Street in Mount Hope onto Legends Highway on WV Route 16.
The driver reportedly rapidly accelerated upon noticing the police vehicle.
Authorities could not find any visible registration for the motorcycle and attempted to pull the driver over.
Officers reported that the suspect did not stop and continued south on WV 16 towards Bailey, reportedly crossing the centerline several times and accelerating to speeds of 90 mph.
The suspect then fled through Bradley, continuing to near the intersection of WV Route 16 and North Sand Branch Road, where they struck a State Police cruiser and a guardrail.
After the collision, the suspect attempted to flee on foot and hide in nearby bushes.

Officers discovered drug paraphernalia and a half-empty bottle of liquor after searching him.
Upon further investigation, authorities found that the motorcycle was uninsured and the license plate had expired.
Troopers searched for the driver’s criminal history and found that the suspect’s driver’s license had been revoked in 2019 in connection with a DUI conviction.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Robert Clarence Dotson, was arrested and charged with fleeing with reckless indifference, fleeing while driving under the influence, DUI, driving with a revoked license, improper display of registration, driving without insurance, driving with an expired registration, three counts of fleeing on foot, and three counts of obstruction.
