Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) A Fayette County Court has sentenced a man to serve over 40 years in prison for over 30 felony sex offenses.
According to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, on April 23, following a three-day trial, Harold L. “Butch” Blake III was found guilty of 36 felony sex offenses against five different minor children.
A jury convicted Blake of nine counts of second-degree sexual assault, thirteen counts of first-degree sexual abuse, twelve counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian, and two counts of incest.
The criminal investigation into the crimes began when a child alleged that Blake had engaged in inappropriate sexual acts with her.
As authorities continued their investigation, four additional victims came forward with similar allegations.
Blake now faces a functional life sentence due to the lengthy sentence.
The State requested that the court revoke his bond.
Judge Thomas Fast, who presided over the case, granted the request.
