Pipestem, WV (WOAY) A man is facing drug possession, firearm, and DUI charges in Summers County.
According to the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call to Pipestem State Park, reporting a possibly intoxicated driver near the lookout tower.
Sheriff Faris discovered 40-year-old Samuel Walker passed out behind the wheel of the still running vehicle.
The car was reportedly still in drive, and Walker was holding a knife while unconscious.
Deputies were able to wake Walker after several attempts with help from the West Virginia State Police.
Upon investigation, Authorities discovered fentanyl, gabapentin, and hydrocodone pills and three firearms, one of which was reported stolen from Florida.
Walker was arrested and charged with three counts Possession of a Controlled Substance, DUI, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.
Walker awaits further court proceedings in Southern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bail.
The Summers County Sheriff’s Office commends the two Good Samaritans who recognized the potentially dangerous situation and reported the suspected impaired driver, which may have prevented a serious crash or injury.
