Man faces arson charges in Raleigh County

Shady Spring, WV (WOAY) A man is facing arson charges in Raleigh County.
The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, June 13, deputies were dispatched to the Open Door Church in Shady Spring in response to a possible burglary.
An investigation led to authorities discovering that a suspect unlawfully entered the church, set multiple fires within the building, and left handwritten notes throughout the property.
Authorities identified the suspect as 33-year-old Kevin Michael Goodson, who later contacted investigators, confessed to the incident, and was subsequently taken into custody.
Goodson has been charged with 3 Counts of Second Degree Arson and Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling.
Goodson is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond set by Magistrate Paul Blume.
