Raleigh County, WV (WOAY) – We now know more details about an incident that occurred at a local sporting event.
According to a media release from Beckley’s Deputy Chief of Police Morgan G. Bragg, on Friday, September 25, while attending a Woodrow Wilson High School football game, officers were informed that an adult attendee had a firearm on school property.
When confronted, the male became combative and resisted officers. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a handgun.
20-year-old Stephon Tyrese Yancy is charged with possession of a firearm on school property, violation of a protective order, and obstructing an officer.
At the time of the incident, Stephon Yancy had previous pending charges for which he had been released on bond.
He is currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail under $5,000 bail for this most recent arrest.
