WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Department of Corrections is in the midst of significant upgrades at the Anthony Correctional Center.
The center is located in Greenbrier County. The state will demolish and rebuild the main building. Workers will also build a new women’s housing unit, vocational building, and power plant.
The new building will have an educational center, culinary arts program, state shop, office for administration, gym, medical facility, and an intake area.
Work began on March 6. Lynch Construction from White Sulphur Springs is doing demolition work, while SQP is the general contractor.
The project is expected to cost $30 million and will increase the center’s capacity to 32 female and 80 male offenders.
