Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Major upgrades are on the horizon for state’s largest airport.
West Virginia International Yeager Airport will see renovations to the pre-security areas according to a media release by the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The project is made possible through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport
Terminals Program (ATP) Grant and is aimed at enhancing the passenger experience from the moment
travelers enter the terminal.
The $8 million dollar investment will include upgrades to the ticket lobby, the ramp area near the secure area exit, the baggage claim area and all public circulation spaces in between. The planned renovations will also feature replacement of ticket counters, installation of digital display signage, new flooring, refreshed finishes and more improved lighting throughout the main lobby.
“This project is a key milestone in our long-term terminal modernization efforts,” Dominique Ranieri, CEO & airport director, said in the news release. “It reflects our commitment to improving the passenger experience, supporting future growth, and making CRW a more welcoming and efficient gateway for travelers.”
There is currently a $12 million dollar capital improvements project currently underway at CRW. The ongoing project includes upgrades to lobby restrooms, installation of a second baggage belt, expansion of the general aviation apron, and site preparation for a future maintenance facility relocation.
Construction is expected to begin in October and is estimated to take 180 days to complete.
