West Virginia (WOAY) A state-of-the-art mobile lung cancer screening unit is making stops in our region.
LUCAS, part of WVU Medicine and the WVU Cancer Institute, will offer low-dose CT scans to help detect lung cancer early.
The unit will be at Community Care of Green Bank on March 25 and at Rainelle Medical Center on March 26.
Both events run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Screenings are billed through private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare.
Uninsured West Virginia residents who qualify may receive screenings at no cost through grant funding.
A physician’s order and advance appointment are required, with bookings needed at least two weeks ahead to allow time for insurance authorization.
Health officials say early detection is key, especially in West Virginia, where lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths.
