Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) The WVU Cancer Institute’s mobile lung cancer screening unit – or LUCAS, for short – travels throughout West Virginia, offering lung cancer screenings in rural areas. This August, the mobile unit will bring its screening services to Nicholas, Barbour, and Upshur counties on the 12th, 13th, and 14th.
The kinds of regular lung screenings that LUCAS offers can help detect cancer early, when it is easier to cure.
Appointments must be made at least 14 days in advance and require a physician’s order and prior insurance authorization.
Screenings can be billed to private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare, but some uninsured patients may be eligible to receive their screenings through grants and donations.
