Love Hope’s 1st ever Youth Filmmaker workshop went off without a hitch

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)—This afternoon, Young filmmakers in our area gathered at Love Hope Center for the Arts to learn more about the world of film from industry professionals. Love Hope joined with the West Virginia Film Office to bring this opportunity to Fayette County.

Joe Strechay, an Apple TV producer and blindness consultant, spoke to students on authentic storytelling. He explained how to make a film your own and shared his experiences.

Tijah Bumgarner and Saja Montague taught students how to utilize their cell phones to make short films. They even brought in simple, low-cost equipment that students got to use to make their own short films.

Though the workshop was today, they have another opportunity for young filmmakers coming up. Love Hope will be hosting the Youth Film Fest on August 9th. It’ll be held at the Freefolk Brewery in Hico starting at 8 pm.

Filmmakers 24 and under can submit their films between now and July 27th.

You can visit the link below to submit a film.
