BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is getting 6 brand new AED units, thanks to a grant from the Beckley Area Foundation.
AEDs are emergency devices that detect when a person has an abnormal heart rhythm and provide an electric shock when necessary.
The units will be distributed among patrol units and different detachments.
The grant totaled $8,600.
