Princeton, WV (WOAY) – A Mercer County nurse received national recognition for her work in the Emergency Department.
Erin Kevitt, RN, was presented with the internationally respected DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital (PCH) on Monday, January 22nd.
According to press release from the hospital, Kevitt exemplified the very essence of the DAISY Award when she assisted with the delivery of a baby for a mother who was unaware of her pregnancy. She continued showing care and concern by purchasing a gift for the baby and bringing it in the following night, knowing the mother was unprepared for her new arrival.
“Erin’s actions speak volumes about her selfless attitude and genuine care for others,” said PCH President and CEO Karen Bowling, who herself worked as an emergency department RN. “Her willingness and ability to go above and beyond for her patients and coworkers alike makes her an exemplary nurse and an inspiration to us all.”
Nurses are nominated for the award from patients, family members and staff. The DAISY Award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s global program to honor nurses for the difference they make in the lives of patients and their families.
