Local city is gearing up for a big 4th of July celebration

Mercer County, WV (WOAY) – The city of Princeton is getting ready to kick off its Fourth of July celebration.

On Thursday, July 3, the fun starts with a very special celebration in Princeton City Park.

A celebration for people with special needs and their families will be held at the Park ADA playground. Snacks, games, and sparklers will be a part of the celebration.

Then on the fourth, the celebration begins at the Chuck Mathena Center with three musical groups including Trial by Fire, a Journey tribute band.

There will also be games, food trucks, a hot dog eating contest, and of course, the grand finale, the fireworks.

Madison Jones, event coordinator for the city of Princeton, says the city loves to see everyone come out and take part in this event.

“I find so much joy in seeing our community come together on such a patriotic day to celebrate our country and our freedom,” Jones said.
