Lewisburg, WV (WOAY)- The Greenbrier Humane Society is celebrating a heartwarming wave of generosity that’s changing lives.
Thanks to the support of 15 local businesses and community leaders, 87 pet adoptions have been sponsored, and 31 dog adoptions are still available at no cost to approved adopters.
It all began with Doss Electrical LLC, which launched a “Pay It Forward” challenge.
What followed was an outpouring of support, with others stepping up to sponsor multiple adoptions during a time when the shelter was stretched to its limits.
“These acts of kindness have given us the breathing room we desperately needed,” said Kirstin Cole of the Greenbrier Humane Society, “but more importantly, they’ve opened the door for 31 more dogs to find the loving homes they deserve.”
Each dog is fully vetted, including vaccinations, microchipping, flea and tick treatment, and spay or neuter surgery.
Adoption is completely free for approved applicants.
Stop by the shelter at 151 Holliday Lane in Lewisburg, open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or visit Greenbrier Humane Society on Facebook to view available dogs.Â
