BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Local economy continues to take a big hit from the coronavirus pandemic.
“So the Chamber of Commerce is putting together a list of resources for the business community. Places that they can turn to to get information as we all navigate through this ever-changing business climate. I think a lot of businesses were not prepared for what happened during the last few days,” President of Beckley Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce Michelle Rotellini.
Governments throughout the country urge businesses to close their doors to slow the coronavirus pandemic. while some businesses can afford close to the shop. Â small local businesses are in financial hardship.
“Businesses can check with their banks to see if there any possibilities that they can get expanding a line of credit. They should check on their insurance coverage. When they have to be faced with laying off their employees they should contact the West Virginia workforce,” said Rotellini.
With many local businesses closing due to the coronavirus hundreds of local jobs are at risk.
“I think that everyone has to get really creative right now. You have to look at new ways to do business. If you arent already doing business online now would be a great time to start,” said Rotellini.
