West Virginia (WOAY)- A Lewisburg man will spend over a year behind bars after being sentenced on federal gun charges.
A court sentenced 39-year-old Richard Shawn Owens to one year and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court documents, the conviction stems from his illegal possession of firearms, despite a prior misdemeanor domestic violence conviction.
According to court records, officers executed a search warrant at Owens’ home on august 10.
Inside, they found six firearms–including handguns, rifles, and a shotgun–along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
The weapons were reportedly out in the open and accessible in a home where two children also lived.
Owens admitted to possessing the firearms.
