LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – The Lewisburg City Council approved a cost of living increase for the city employees.
The council voted to have a thirty-five cent increase in pay to help the city employees. The original proposed amount was around seventy cents. Still, due to the uncertainties with the pandemic and the city’s revenue, the council approved a lower amount to evaluate again.
“There’s some uncertainty about the city’s revenue, its flat at best, especially with the unknown,” said Councilman Mark Etten. “My recommendation would be to precede it at that level [thirty-five cents].”
The cost of living increases will take effect on October 1st, 2020.
