Legendary WOAY broadcaster and State Senator Shirley Love passes away

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Former broadcast journalist, Delegate, and Senator Shirley Love has passed away at 87-years-old.

Shirley Love spent most of his career at WOAY-TV.  He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates for one term starting in 2016. He was a former member of the West Virginia Senate, representing the 11th district from 1994-2008.

Love worked for WOAY from 1954 to 1997 as a broadcaster.   He was the announcer for Saturday Night Wrestling and hosted a bandstand.  He was very well known in the community for his work in tv, politics, and sales.

WOAY would like to extend our condolences to the family of Love.
