Lawsuit filed in Boar’s Head Listeria recall

West Virginia (CNN)—Boar’s Head is now facing a potential class action lawsuit after a deadly listeria outbreak linked to its deli meats.

In the New York District Court lawsuit, the plaintiff alleges the company misled its consumers by not warning them of the contamination in its initial July 25 recall.

The recall initially involved 200,000 pounds of ready-to-eat and deli meat products.

The company later expanded the recall to include seven million pounds of meat products.

As of last week, 34 illnesses had been reported in 13 states, including two deaths.

The lawsuit is the second legal battle Boar’s Head is facing about this listeria outbreak.
